What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda, the 5,000 year old healing system founded in ancient India, is derived from the Sanskrit words ‘Ayus’ meaning ‘Life’ and ‘Veda’ meaning ‘Wisdom’.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, human beings are viewed as being in constant dynamic exchange with the energy and information of the environment. Health is a state of vibrant balance in which all the layers of one’s life are integrated. Ayurveda is Personalised, Preventative and Practical.
Ayurveda offers individualised practices to balance our mind-body personalities, known as Doshas. The essence of Ayurveda teaches us that everything within nature (including our bodies and our minds) consist of 5 elements; Space, Air, fire, water and earth. All of these elements are mirrored within our bodies as well as the environment surrounding us.
The Doshas or, Mind-body personalities are differing combinations of these elements and are always active and playing within us and around us. Just as the weather changes, so do our bodies and our minds.

What will I learn in the Chopra Perfect Health Ayurvedic Lifestyle Program?
The program is presented in 5 classes.
Each class is personalised, interactive and relaxed, giving lots of opportunity for questions.
Session 1: Introduction to Ayurveda. Time: Approximately 2.5 hours
We’ll set our intentions for the course, discuss the principles of Ayurveda, learn about the multidimensional nature of life, explore your individual mind-body personality (known as doshas) as revealed in the dosha quizes.
Session 2: Ayurvedic Nutrition. Time: Approximately 2 hours
We’ll discuss Ayurvedic nutrition, including the power of digestion, the six tastes, eating to balance each dosha type, phytonutrients, and eating with awareness. You’ll learn practices for creating vibrant health and well-being.
Session 3: Emotional Freedom. Time: Approximately 2 hours
We’ll focus on cultivating emotional well-being, which includes these topics: happiness, our core emotional needs, the nature of emotions and how they relate to the doshas. The seven biological responses, conscious communication, and practices and tools for emotional clearing.
Session 4: Inner Pharmacy. Time: Approximately 2 hours
We’ll explore how to tap into the healing power of the five senses; sound, touch, sight, taste and smell. You’ll learn specific sensory practices to balance each of the doshas. You’ll also explore the sense of humour – using laughter as medicine.
Session 5: Ayurvedic Daily Routines. Time: Approximately 2 hours
Lou will guide you through the topics of the rhythms of nature, creating an optimal daily routine, doshas and the seasons, seasonal routines, detoxification, and restful sleep. You’ll also be guided in the practices of an Ayurvedic lifestyle.
